bet the kid had no helmet on either. I see these ride their bikes around traffic like they own the street. too bad this kid found out he didnt. he didnt obey the rules of the road, which include stopping for emergency vehicles!

why isnt the mother held accountable. obviously she didnt teach this kid to wear a helmet and not ride in the busy street. It sounds like this kid was not respecting the lights and sirens and get out of the way.

My heart goes out to both the family and the officer involved in that terrible accident on clinton ave. As I see it there was only one thing that caused this. A LACK OF COMMON SENSE! It wasn't the kid's fault. It wasn't the officer's fault. It was the fault of the parents and our society as a whole. Kids today are not taught the basic common sense things like look both ways before crossing. I see adults everyday crossing streets where ever they please and against traffic lights with oncoming trraffic with no regard for their own safety. It never occurs to them that brakes can fail or the like. How can we expect kids to follow rules when they see us not following them? Even after this has happened I see people still doing these things. Now that's a true lack of common sense.
